Installations located in urban environments with public access are carried out mainly to provide a charging service (shopping centres, hotels, companies, town halls, public roads) when the car may be parked short term. These charging points can be AC up to 22 kW in three-phase or in DC for higher powers.
In this type of charging installations, protection against overvoltages is required at the origin of the installation, as well as additional transient overvoltage protection next to (or inside) the charging point.
